Director: Bharati Ganesh
Cast: Vijayakant, Simran, Karnan, Shivkumar, Lakshmy, Charlie.
Vijayakant plays a dual role that of father and son in this film. Produced by Super Good Films, the story centres round a village elder (Vijayakant) who is highly respected and honoured by the people. As evidence of this, there is the mandatory song where the man walks majestically down the village path, the people strewing flowers on his way and singing eulogies on him.
An eloped couple (Sivakumar-Lakshmi), chased by the woman's relatives takes refuge in the village. The village elder (Vijayakant) gives them protection, but gives up his life in the bargain. The couple grateful to their saviour, bring up the man's little boy as their own son. The couple begets a male issue and a strong bond develops between the two boys, only to be threatened when they reach adulthood. A girl enters the life of Vetri the elder one (Vijayakant). But when he realises that his younger brother too loves the same girl, he decides to play martyr. Misunderstandings however crop up, flamed further by their rivals. But matters are put in their proper perspective and its all well that ends well!
The story seems to be a re-hash of earlier films like 'Suryavamsam', 'Arunachalam', etc. For Vijayakant it's an easy role, for hasn't he done it a hundred times earlier? While Simran cuts a fetching picture, Karan makes full use of the opportunity given to him.
