Vanavil

Starring: Arjun, Sakshi

Director Manoj Kumar, the brother-in-law of director Bharathiraja began his career with some successful films. Then he went into near oblivion and not much was heard of him. Came ‘Gurupparvai’ starring Prakashraj in the lead. Its unusual story line and different scripting made it a fairly engaging entertainer. And Manoj Kumar got a new lease of life. Back into circulation, he is on to his new film titled ‘Vanavil’. The film stars ‘Action King’ Arjun and paired with him is Sakshi, not much seen in Tamil films these days. Also in the film are Manivannan, Sumitra, Indu, Alex, J. Vinod Kumar and R. S. Ramnath. Vadivelu and Vyapuri are there to provide the comic relief.

Manoj Kumar is also the film’s producer and the film was launched under his banner ‘Guru Films’, named after his comeback film. Lavishly budgeted the film was launched recently with much fanfare at the A.V.M. Studios. Many eminent persons of the film industry were present on the occasion. A.V.M. Saravanan, Producer K.R.G., distributor Sinthamani Murugeshan, hero Arjun, heroine Sakshi, director Bharathiraja, actor-director Pandiarajan, director P. Vasu, actor-director Partibhan and actress Rupasri were some of the V.I.P.s present to felicitate and wish director Manoj Kumar.

The story of ‘Vanavil’ is centered on love, romance and family sentiments. It is to be a clear, unpretentious entertainer meant for family viewing, says its director Manoj Kumar. Arjun and Sakshi are paired together for the first time. And this is also the first film where the ‘action king’ will be working under Manoj Kumar’s direction. Planned for a May release, the film will be shot at locations in Chennai, Pollachi, Nagercoil and picturesque places in Switzerland.

Kartik Raja will be wielding the camera. Deva composes the music. Manoj Kumar, apart from directing and producing the film also writes its story and the screenplay. Raghu writes the dialogues. Incidentally Manoj Kumar is a busy man where the small screen is concerned too. He is directing quite a few serials for the Television. One of the TV serials being telecast on Jaya TV channel at present is a serial titled ‘Ration Card’.
